Simple Kitchen

The first room I had to tackle was the kitchen. It was an absolute necessity. When I was planning how I was going to decorate the house when we first knew the floor plan, I knew I had to go with something that was going to flow from the kitchen, dining, living room and entryway. I love that we now have a very OPEN floor plan.

In our condo, I basically had a dead end hallway they had managed to cram a refrigerator, dishwasher and oven into. When I was moving out we had like, one day, to find a place and I really regretted not looking around more the first time I went to cook a meal! It was terrible.

Oh, but now... I finally have the counter space and pantry I had been lacking.
I wanted to go with a very homey/cozy shabby/rustic theme throughout. I love classic white, with subtle splashes of color. I plan on getting a backsplash in the kitchen in the next couple months (husband willing,) and I think that will pull it all together!
THE KITCHEN:
This the kitchen facing in. I've opted out of using the bar with barstools, for now. I think the kids are too young to be careful with their feet on the wall, so we will wait on that.

This is my most used section of the kitchen. The coffee bar.
CLASSIC WHITE TOUCHES:
I got this little elephant at Pier 1, and the mugs at Target.

I don't remember where I got these canisters at, but I wish I had more, they are so useful!

I got these adorable measuring cups at Pier 1, on sale!

I asked my dad for bird salt/pepper shakers, thinking that would be the easiest for him because guys need specific directions with gifts, as history has demonstrated. He ended up buying 4 pairs of bird shaped sets from Pier 1. These were the winning set.

KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR DEALS!!!

I got these at an estate sale, years ago. I just loved them. One of my favorite thrifty finds.

I got this at thift store, still in the box, for $20. It had the original Macy's price tag of $150. Hells yeah.

I had fun decorating this space. I tried to keep it warm so it doesn't feel like a model home, I want my family to be comfortable at home. I had the hardest time keeping it simple, I tend to want to go a little craz-ay decorating. I kept it simple.

Next up: Dining room! Stay tuned.

Moving and Update

So moving was... the opposite of fun times 1000.

But! It's over!

I had quite the challenge unpacking and decorating with a not even 3 month old. I ended up wearing her in many different baby carriers, and staying up WAY too late to get it done, but, I got it done.

I will posting various areas of the house that have been completed. Well, as completed as I have planned for the foreseeable future. I don't think I'm ever "truly done" decorating a space. I'm excited to show them, as well as point out just how easy and inexpensively you can decorate your home. I've taken on a rustic/shabby/cozy decorum and I have been having so much fun with it. To be continued as far as that is concerned!

We DID have our landscaping done, and I'm so glad we went with grass! The kids and I will definitely make good use of our yard for years to come!

I will share on Facebook (really the only reason I keep the thing) and Instagram (GrahnSolo) as posts are up. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day! I got spoiled with handmade cards, flowers and a new pair of Toms.

Have a great week!
